A Big Bang or a Big God?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

We have all heard of the Big Bang Theory at some point in time. Many of us were taught it in school. What is it? Does belief in the theory affect our worldview? Can it affect our spiritual life? Let’s find out!

What is the Big Bang Theory?

According to Merriam-Webster, it is “a theory in astronomy: the universe originated billions of years ago in an explosion from a single point of nearly infinite energy density.”

This is the secular explanation for how everything that exists came into being. It’s important to keep in mind that it is only a theory. We will be looking into the many flaws this theory has and why it is still taught as fact today.

Have you ever seen an explosion create anything good? Imagine an explosion occurs in the middle of your city. What did you just see in your mind? I’m sure it wasn’t that there was more wildlife and everything became organized. But that’s what “modern science” wants for you to believe that happened with our universe.

Is the Big Bang Theory Actually Scientific?

Since the theory is taught in science class I’m sure you’re thinking, well isn’t it? Let’s see if the theory aligns itself with the definition of science. Science is “the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment”. The Big Bang Theory has to fulfill two requirements to be scientific: observation and experiment.

It is obvious that there were no humans present to observe the universe come into being, so the theory fails the first requirement. When scientists want to force a theory without observation, they just add more time to it. Textbooks have not always said that the universe is 14 billion years old. As more and more evidence rules out the theory, scientists just say well it’s actually older than originally thought. Thus, anything is possible if you just say it takes millions or billions of years.

The Big Bang Theory cannot be replicated even in a lab or a computer animation. The reason for this is because there are just too many issues with the theory for it to be reenacted the way that it is written about. I have included three opposing scientific principles I encountered while studying the topic that showcase the obvious flaws in the theory.

The First Flaw: The Second Law of Thermodynamics

Physicist Lord Kelvin stated it technically as follows: “There is no natural process the only result of which is to cool a heat reservoir and do external work.” In more understandable terms, this law observes the fact that the useable energy in the universe is becoming less and less. Any natural system left to its own causes disorder. All natural systems degenerate when left to themselves.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics describes basic principles familiar in everyday life. It describes why everything will fall apart and disintegrate over time. Over time everything decays and chaos increases. Clothes fade, food rots and structures crumble. Everything ages and wears out. This law applies to everything in the universe.

This law perfectly describes what we see all around us. It explains why scientists have observed exploding stars but never one forming, or why evolution cannot be observed. The universe left to its own after an explosion would never be able to create plants, animals or mankind. Things do not become better over time no matter how much time you give. Somehow some scientists still believe giving anything billions of years will defy basic truths.

The Second Flaw: The Big Bang was a Spinning Dot

Every object in the universe, from a basic star to a black hole, spins. Since everything spins the only explanation is that it had to have been that way since the beginning. According to Scientific American, “In our own solar system, both the planets and our sun spin in the same direction because they were formed from the same primordial cloud of gas and dust.” Except not all planets or their moons spin in the same direction and there doesn’t seem to be much of an explanation for that.

One of the exceptions to this general trend is Uranus. An explanation is it may have been knocked over onto its side by some titanic collision in its distant past. Venus also spins in the opposite direction from most planets. Scientific American goes on to say “So, too, moons formed at the same time as their respective planets orbit those planets in the same direction as the planet’s spin.” The issue is that some planets do not have all their moons orbiting in the same direction.

Many Moons Debunk the Theory

Jupiter has 79 known moons. Many of Jupiter’s outer moons have highly elliptical orbits and orbit backwards (opposite to the spin of the planet). Triton is yet another moon that moves opposite the direction of Neptune’s rotation.

If everything was spinning in the beginning as it exploded it would have all been spinning in the same direction. Science at this moment has no real answer as to why this has not happened. I believe God in his infinite wisdom had some moons and planets spin in the opposite direction to just poke a hole in man’s logic and wisdom. The same questions God asked Job in Job 38 could be asked to scientists today. “Where were you when He created the heavens, earth and everything that is it thereof?”

The Third Flaw- Life Came from  Nothing

In said explosion life was “made”. It’s interesting that no scientist ever has been able to make life in a lab. They have been able to start with basic fundamentals of life such as DNA and create from there. This is due to the fact that everything we see has to come from something. The textbook explanation that rain falling on a rock for millions of years created life makes as much sense as me leaving a cup of water out for long enough that a fish will appear.

Truth is that any living organism is extremely complex. Each cell in a plant or being thing has a function. Cells communicate with one another on when to die, multiply and attack. DNA is so incredibly complex that scientists are just now beginning to understand the simplest functions. This kind of complexity cannot and did not just evolve. Evolution would make sense if everything were simple, but the exact opposite is true.

We can observe in nature that all things work together. The trees produce oxygen and we humans breathe oxygen. Plants need to be pollinated and bees pollinate. And on it goes. Animals and humans have two sexes. Both sexes function perfectly for one another for offspring. One cannot reproduce without the other. So if we evolved both males and females would have had to come into being relatively close to one another or else that one sex would die and never had the chance to reproduce. The Big Bang Theory taught today tries to explain creation without God by placing Him with time; and yet without Him all we see makes no sense.

Why the Big Bang is Taught

After the United States removed God from the classroom, He was replaced with a secular worldview. The Big Bang Theory is a way for people to not question where they originated from, the meaning of life and where they go after this life. You see, everyone has those questions. The Big Bang answers them all by saying that we originated from nothing, life came spontaneously without any meaning and so we die and just go back into the dirt.

This theory has created many atheists. You can see why! Without any kind of moral standard from a higher power, then man becomes his own god. Humans can live a life without any eternal consequences. Schools are indoctrinating our youth, not teaching. Students are not encouraged to look at the evidence and think on what makes logical sense. Instead, the state tells children to memorize answers to questions.

I personally never took an interest in science before coming to Christ. I was one to say that “of course, everything came from the Big Bang!” Did you believe the same? What do you believe in now? I would love to hear your thoughts. Comment below!
