Family finances can be a key target of Satan’s attack especially since it is a core need in people’s daily lives…
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28)
We see in scripture that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God. God created Eve for Adam so that the two could be in covenant with one another through marriage. So what is the reason that God made marriage? We find out why in Malachi chapter two 14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. Verse 15 gives us the answer: a godly seed. God desires for married couples to have godly children.
Satan’s Attack in the Garden
Satan has always wanted to break families apart. After satan deceived Eve to eat the forbidden fruit Adam and Eve were called into question by God. Adam’s response revealed a crack in his marriage, one that was done by the enemy. Adam says that he ate of the fruit because of the woman. He blamed his wife. Imagine what Eve thought. She probably felt small, attacked, and unloved. Instead of asking for forgiveness or taking responsibility for his actions he pointed the finger to his wife. Scripture does not say but it probably led to unforgiveness in both Adam and Eve. I can imagine there were plenty of arguments after they got kicked out of the garden of Eden. The devil continues to attack families in several areas. Check out the entire blog series of satan’s attack to find out the different areas he targets.
Satan’s Financial Attack
Satan is just as crafty and subtle today as he was trying to divide Adam and Eve. His tactics have changed though. Now we see a world that most men cannot provide for their family on just one income. The wife is forced to work outside of the home, dedicating more time to her job than to her husband and children. With both parents working outside of the home, the children do not have a proper upbringing. Instead, the state raises the children. The state has the ability to indoctrinate the children with little to no backlash because the parents are too busy to even notice what is being taught to them.
Take note that the state and mainstream media is always against the nuclear family. It started off with the idea that women are equal to men and the only way to prove equality is having the freedom to work outside of the home. Somehow the concept of staying home to raise your children with the best that you can offer, with disciple, love and individual attention became backward, unpopular and even viewed as demeaning. But if a woman works outside her home serving her employer is viewed somehow different from serving her family.
But for the past few decades, even two paychecks have been unable to cover the costs a family has. In the United States today the average American has about $30,000 worth of debt, one in six homes face foreclosure, and the financial situation is not getting any better as consumer debt and student loans continue to grow. It is no wonder why a leading cause of divorce in America is a financial stress.
Money in and of itself doesn’t cause divorce. Living in poverty is incredibly stressful, and financial stressors can lead to fighting — which can result in divorce. Differences in spending or saving money can also be incredibly difficult to navigate in a marriage. One person wants to bargain shop and the other only buys designer clothes. If one does not apply wisdom to the situation it can easily open a door for the enemy to enter.
Words of Wisdom
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Mark 10:7-9)
