What is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God?

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:14:15)

The First Statement of Jesus

The scripture above is key to understanding what the gospel of the Kingdom of God or Kingdom of Heaven is. The Lord Jesus Christ began His public ministry on earth with a clear message. The message was the gospel of the Kingdom of God. The kingdom is not what most people think. The word gospel simply means “good news”. Kingdom is the Greek word “basileia,” which means “the realm in which a sovereign king rules”. I admire the translation of the late Dr. Myles Munroe used in his work describing the kingdom, which is:

“The governing influence of a king over his territory,

impacting it with his personal will, purpose, and intent,

producing a culture, values, morals, and lifestyle that

reflect the king’s desires and nature for his citizens.” – Dr. Myles Munroe

The Government of God

For purposes of this writing, I will refer to the kingdom as a form of government. This put together simple implies the good news of the government of God. With this understanding, we establish that God is King and His government is a kingdom.

This directly connects to the Prophet Isaiah’s declaration about The Lord Jesus Christ:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

The Mandate of The Lord Jesus Christ

In this passage of scripture, we can see the mandate of The Lord Jesus Christ bringing the government of God upon His shoulder to earth. In other words, He was coming to establish, restore and redeem the relationship between man on earth and the God in heaven. The Lord’s destiny was to bring the kingdom back to humanity.

This kingdom is an everlasting kingdom declared by the Prophet Isaiah as a government. He restored the kingdom. This relationship and access to the King of heaven and His kingdom is what Adam and Eve lost when they disobeyed, sinned, and rebelled against God by eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Understanding the Importance of the Kingdom Message

Therefore, it is with great joy I am writing this now, the good news is so important and critical to your life’s purpose. Understanding the gospel of the kingdom of God restores the source of your life’s purpose. The Lord Jesus Christ came down from heaven to live a sinless life representing humanity. He died on a cross by sinful man, and God rose Him from the dead on the third day.  Jesus himself said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

We are restored to the King of Heaven and His kingdom government through belief in Him as the Son of God, The Savior of the World and confession of Him as Lord. We can be born again into His spiritual kingdom, through repentance and faith in Him. The word repentance comes from the Greek word “metanoeó” which is a change of mind and change of the heart from sin to righteousness and baptism of water. This spiritual kingdom is what Adam and Eve lost and is what The Lord Jesus Christ restored to humanity. This is the gospel of the kingdom of God. Blessings.

How can I Enter into the Kingdom of God?

In summary, the gospel of the kingdom of God is the good-news message of repentance, redemption, and restoration offered by God to all who will receive Christ. Those who accept this offer become part of His eternal kingdom and become restored children of God. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)

The Bible states in John 3 the following: “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:5-6)

Prayer for Salvation

If you desire to see and enter the kingdom of God, you must be born again. The following prayer is for those people who desire to be born again by receiving salvation and the Spirit of God into their life. If this is you, I would encourage you to agree with me in prayer, according to the scriptures.

God, I come before you in Jesus Christ name, I recognize, confess and renounce my sin before you. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) I thank you God for your great love displayed by sending your only begotten Son to die for me while I was yet a sinner. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) God, I acknowledge that the penalty for my sin is death. But, I receive the gift of eternal life that is found through The Lord Jesus Christ. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

God I now confess The Lord Jesus Christ. I believe in Him, and I confess that I believe you rose Him from the dead in my heart. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9)

Restoration to God

Father, I now thank you for restoring me back to yourself as a child of God. I thank you, Father, for forgiving my sin, I now seek baptism in water in response and obedience to the gospel of the kingdom of God. I ask you, Father, lead me to someone who can baptize me according to your word and your Spirit. Father, I ask you to lead me to someone who can disciple me. Disciplship according to your word and Spirit, teaching me to observe all things The Lord Jesus Christ commanded, Amen.  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Entering the Kingdom

I congratulate you for taking the step of repenting of your sin before God. I declare unto you that the angels of God are joyful because you have chosen to repent of your sin and turn to God. You have now entered into the kingdom of light. We are praying for your fufilled destiny in Jesus Christ name. Blessings.

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance; Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” (Luke 15:7;10)

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14)
